Montye Jabbar Purify believes one of the greatest assets a person or community can possess is proof of who they are and where they come from.

His understanding of that idea begins in Seminole, Oklahoma, where sports, family, community and small-town life helped shape his identity. Decades later, the rediscovery of a remarkable piece of his own family history, the 1971 record documenting his father as the first Campus King of Seminole Junior College, now Seminole State College, gave new meaning to a question that had followed him throughout his life:

What happens when the stories that shape us are never preserved?

Purify’s journey eventually led from Seminole to Kennesaw State University, where he discovered a laboratory for leadership, public relations, sports, entertainment and community engagement.

At Kennesaw State, he served the university and surrounding community through athletics, student leadership, public relations, youth initiatives and experiential projects. As an in-game voice and personality for KSU Athletics and a student working alongside university leaders, Purify learned how institutions can use storytelling, experiences and human connection to create belonging.

Even then, the seeds of his future work were emerging.

In 2012, Purify developed a concept inviting coaches, parents, athletes and basketball communities across America to research and contribute photographs, artifacts and personal stories documenting basketball culture. His vision combined sports, technology, history and community participation to create something larger than an event: a living record of the people who made the culture possible.

Today, those experiences converge through Life2Media and the vision for the Civic Memory Vault™.

Purify envisions the Vault not simply as a digital archive, but as the infrastructure behind a new kind of community experience, one where sports and entertainment bring people together, immersive storytelling reconnects them with the people and places that shaped them, and every participant has an opportunity to contribute something meaningful for the generation that comes next.

Through the Build Enough Proof! Road Tour, that vision can come alive at hometown celebrations, high school traditions, university alumni weekends and community gatherings across America.

Guests might hear the voices of former coaches, teachers, athletes, alumni, parents and community elders. They might experience the sounds and stories of a place as it once was. Then, rather than simply leaving with nostalgia, they are invited to contribute their own memory to the Civic Memory Vault.

The experience becomes the invitation.
The story becomes the contribution.
The Vault becomes the legacy.

Derek DeSalvia is a senior executive leader with more than two decades of experience driving customer-centered strategy, operational excellence, and brand integrity across global hospitality and experiential organizations.

As Executive Vice President & Chief Customer Officer at Hilton Grand Vacations (HGV), Derek oversees Club Service, Inventory Management, Resort Operations, and Brand Standards. He leads the company’s enterprise-wide customer service strategy, ensuring exceptional experiences for owners, members, and homeowners’ associations while maintaining strong compliance and brand alignment.

Derek also serves as a Board Member for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida, supporting initiatives that empower young people through mentorship, character development, and opportunity. His board service reflects his belief that leadership must extend beyond performance metrics and into developing environments where human potential can flourish.

As a member of the Life2Media Foundation Board of Governance, Derek contributes deep expertise in brand stewardship, customer experience, and organizational leadership—helping advance the Foundation’s mission to elevate human stories and create sustainable community impact.

He holds a Master’s degree in Management and Human Resources and a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from the University of Central Florida.
